Diabetes has become an epidemic across the United States, but with education and lifestyle modification people with diabetes can lead healthy, happy lives. That is the message of the CHER Diabetes Education Center, encouraging people throughout the Spokane area to take control of their health with the help and guidance of CHER’s certified diabetes educators.
The CHER Diabetes Education Center has been serving the Spokane area for 22 years, providing classes and one-on-one consultations in diabetes education for type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes. With a focus on healthy lifestyle choices and common sense diabetes management, the Center has helped thousands of patients manage their diabetes and get back to living.
Moving into a new, consolidated location in the University District, the Center looks forward to adding even more services for the community under the direction of Dr. Colleen Carey, endocrinologist and medical director of the Center. “We are excited to begin offering expanded weight management services as well as having a nurse practitioner join us later this year,” said Jennifer Polello, director of the CHER Diabetes Education Center. “Making a healthy lifestyle change if you have diabetes, pre-diabetes or just are in need of a change can make a huge difference in your health and quality of life.”
Now located in the Riverpoint One Building at 501 North Riverpoint Boulevard, Suite 245, the CHER Diabetes Education Center invites members of the community to visit the Center’s new location to learn more about diabetes prevention and treatment as well as receive a free healthy meal planner and pedometer.
