"This is Diabetes" is this year's theme for American Diabetes Month, as part of
American Diabetes Association's
effort to steer attention to the disease affecting tens of millions of Americans. "This is Diabetes" shows the real-life stories of families and friends just like those you know living with diabetes. INHS Community Wellness offers classes, in-person and online, to illustrate how you can prevent type 2 diabetes.
INHS Community Wellness wants to help curb the disease, providing tools, tips and education through programs like the Group Lifestyle Balance Program.
Individuals who enroll in the Group Lifestyle Balance Program will:
- Participate in a one-year program that includes 13 weekly sessions, followed with four bi-weekly and six monthly sessions for ongoing support and guidance.
- Track and learn more about improving healthy eating and increasing physical activity.
- Learn how to problem-solve and stay motivated.
- Work towards healthy lifestyle goals with weekly accountability.
The program, adapted from the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), is designed to help individuals make lifestyle changes to lose weight and prevent diabetes.
